Voices of autism : the healing companion : stories for courage, comfort and strength edited by the Healing Project. 2008.
Voices of Autism is filled with real-life stories of lives transformed by a disorder that may affect as many as 1 in 150 children in the United States alone. From parents worrying about their child's first mysterious symptoms to autistic adults living-and thriving-in the shadow of "the Spectrum," these moving stories bear eloquent witness to the astonishing power of the human spirit. (book jacket)

Does your baby have autism? : detecting the earliest signs of autism by Osnat Teitelbaum, Philip Teitelbaum. 2008. For many years, the diagnosis of autism has centered on a child's social interaction-from poor eye contact to lack of language skills. Although the autism community agrees that early intervention is key to effective treatment, the telltale signs of this disorder usually don't reveal themselves until the age of two or three. But what if it were possible to detect the potential for autism within the first year of life? That is the basis of Osnat and Philip Teitelbaum's book, Does Your Baby Have Autism? (book jacket)

Mother warriors : a nation of parents healing autism against all odds by Jenny McCarthy. 2008.
Stories of support from parents of autistic children throughout the country, including those of Jenny McCarthy.

Embracing autism : connecting and communicating with children in the autism spectrum / Robert Parish and friends. 2008.
Parish is an award-winning journalist with four nationally broadcast public TV documentaries about autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) to his credit. Here, he gathers stories from parents, teachers, and clinicians to give insight into the world inhabited by ASD children and adults. Filled with hope and humor, the essays give information on how people with ASD communicate and learn and what it takes to help them reach their full potential. Jossey-Bass is an imprint of Wiley.
